NEW! Peer Supervision Professional (PSP) Certification Training Requirements:
Peer Supervision Professional Certification requires 20 Hours of approved Training in order to become eligible for NYS Certification through the NYCB. At Recovery Coach University we offer a comprehensive and hands-on 20 workshops to meet this requirement as well as many that are pending re-certification approval.
Peer Supervision Professional (PSP) Certification Training
Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA and CRPA-P) Training Requirements:
CRPA and CRPA-P Peer Recovery Certifications* require 50 Hours of approved Training in order to become eligible for NYS Certification through the NYCB. At Recovery Coach University we offer the workshops to meet these requirements as well as many that meet certification renewal requirements.
The fundamental 50 Hr Training Requirements can be obtained by attending:
CRPA (Certified Recovery Peer Advocate) Workshops
*CRPA Certifications are NYS-Specific and required for employment at Medicaid reimbursable NYS OASAS-licensed treatment and recovery centers. For details, applications and requirements always check with the NYS Certification Board (NYCB) as they are the experts and authorities!
Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) Training Requirements:
CARC Certification requires 60 Hours of approved Training in order to become eligible for certification. The same 3 foundation trainings (link below) apply to this certification and the remaining 10 hours may be selected from our approved CARC Electives.
CARC Certification is recognized nationally and is the preferred credential for many self-employed recovery coaches.

RECOVERY COACH UNIVERSITY (RCU) TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
In memory of her son Jonathan, RCU Founder Lori Drescher launched the Jonathan Drescher Recovery Memorial Fund Scholarship for Peer / Recovery Coach Training - approved for initial CRPA certification by ASAP-NYCB! Approved scholarship funding applies to RCU Training only (initial required 50 Hrs: RCA, Ethics and MSR) for individuals with one or more years in recovery, not yet Peer-Certified or gainfully employed in the field of Peer/Recovery Support in NYS.
ROCHESTERWORKS! Opioid Grant & Other Grant Funding for Peer Recovery Trainings
RochesterWorks has limited grant funding which is condition-based on situation (i.e., unemployment/impacted by opioid health crisis/in recovery of opioids) or for qualified low-income families/individuals who are receiving either public assistance or Unemployment benefits. Be sure to check their website to see if you meet the (non-negotiable) eligibility requirements before you apply.
