Beginning Feb. 2024, InUnity Alliance is the new name for ASAP-NYCB. It will be phased in over the next several months. The following excerpt is taken directly from their website:

Peer Supervision Professional (PSP) - PSP is not a peer certification (and therefore the training is not eligible for CRPA or CARC Renewal CE’s).  It is for professionals from any practice background who supervise peers.  Click here for role competencies and here for the PSP Ethical Framework.  Please also see training details at https://www.asapnys.org/asap-pwi/
Click here for PSP Certification Application form and process.

Certification is a voluntary undertaking.  Candidates apply for role-based certification to confirm their credibility as competent non-clinical professionals.  This credibility is valued by a wide variety of stakeholders, including potential employers and business partners, colleagues and clients, and the general public.

Certification is very different from mandatory clinical licensure which confines licensed professionals to within a carefully delineated scope of legal practice.  Peer recovery is not a licensed profession; the peer recovery profession comes with certified role-competence, not a licensed scope of practice.  For further information on the difference between certification and licensure, please see the IC&RC website at https://internationalcredentialing.org/lic-cert.
